How VDrive Private Hire uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, in line with UK PECR and ICO guidance.
Last updated: 26 October 2026 · This policy is reviewed regularly. We recommend you have your own legal adviser review it before relying on it.
Quick summary. We use a very small number of cookies and browser-storage keys, mainly to keep you logged in and remember whether you have dismissed our help prompt. We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies. We comply with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and ICO guidance on cookies.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. There are also a few related technologies we should mention:
The ICO splits cookies into four categories:
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
session |
Cookie | Strictly necessary | Keeps you logged in and protects your session against tampering (CSRF/Flask session) | Browser session, or up to 30 days for a permanent sign-in session; refreshed as configured |
helpWidgetSeen |
Local storage | Functional | Remembers whether you have dismissed the on-screen help widget | Persistent until cleared |
cookieConsent and cookieConsentMeta |
Cookies and local-storage fallback/mirror | Strictly necessary | Remembers your choice, policy version and timestamp. These controls are separate from agreeing to hire or partner contract terms. | Cookies: 365 days; local storage remains until cleared or superseded. A policy-version change can ask again. |
customer_rm, partner_rm, admin_rm |
Cookie | Requested sign-in functionality | Optional “remember me” sign-in token; separate portal scopes and server-side revocation | Normally 30 days, subject to configured duration, logout or revocation |
| Registration draft and form autosave keys | Local storage | Functional | Registration draft saving is an explicit device-local choice; it excludes passwords and document contents. Other forms may use autosave keys to restore entered fields. Avoid shared devices and clear browser storage to remove local copies. | Until cleared by the form or browser; local storage has no automatic browser expiry |
| Prompt dismissal and dashboard sound flags | Session storage | Functional | Remembers push-prompt dismissal and avoids replaying dashboard alert sounds in the same tab | Tab session |
| Stripe Checkout cookies (set on stripe.com / checkout.stripe.com) | Cookie | Strictly necessary | Set by Stripe during supported hosted payments, including first-week reservations, advance rent and extra-day payment changes, for checkout security and fraud prevention. See Stripe's current cookie notice for individual purposes and lifetimes. | Session and persistent periods set by Stripe; see its notice |
Payment preferences, partner fee agreements, insurance enrolment, referrals and mileage audit records are stored on the server; adding these features does not itself introduce a new advertising or analytics cookie. Camera permission is a browser/device permission, not a cookie-consent choice. We do not currently use Google Analytics; no hypothetical analytics cookie is listed as currently installed.
The banner offers essential-only, all and custom preference choices. Use the website's cookie settings control where available to reopen it, or clear the two consent cookies and matching local-storage entries to be asked again. Clearing cookies alone may leave the local-storage copy in place.
To be clear: we do not use third-party advertising cookies, behavioural advertising trackers, social-media tracking pixels (Meta/Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, etc.), or cross-site tracking. We do not sell or share cookie data with advertising networks.
Some pages may include content from third-party services that can set their own cookies (for example, embedded maps, embedded videos, or social-media share buttons). Where we add such services in future, they will only load with your consent and we will list them here. The third party's own privacy and cookie notice will apply to those cookies.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view stored cookies, delete them, block them from specific sites, or block them entirely. Quick links:
Please note: if you block strictly-necessary cookies, parts of the website (notably login) will stop working. General guidance is at aboutcookies.org and allaboutcookies.org.
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no industry consensus on how to respond to DNT, but because we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies in the first place, your browsing on our site is not used for behavioural profiling whether DNT is on or off.
PECR applies to cookies and similar browser storage, not just cookies named “tracking”. An applicable exception, such as storage strictly necessary for a service you request, can remove the requirement for consent; an appropriate UK GDPR basis is still required for personal data. Non-exempt storage requires consent. Accepting hire terms or receiving this notice is not consent to optional storage. Some existing functional autosave/help features operate independently of the banner's analytics preference; the banner must not be read as a claim that it technically blocks every functional storage key. You can remove or block those entries in your browser.
We may update this Cookie Policy when our use of cookies changes or when guidance from the ICO is updated. Material changes (such as introducing analytics or third-party cookies) will be notified on the website and, where appropriate, in your account.
